No
matter your industry or application, General Monitors Systems Group
(GMS) provides a solution to meet your plant’s needs for hazardous
environment monitoring. From single-point gas or flame detection
to large multi-point PLC or DCS systems, you can rely on GMS for
safe, reliable, cost-effective plant protection.
Our monitoring solutions are designed with a modular,
flexible approach to meet unique customer requirements for combustible
gas, toxic gas and flame detection. We employ the highest-quality
components in hardwired card-based systems, PLC-based systems
or addressable systems networked via computer. We offer a wide
range of solutions, from custom-engineered systems to off-the-shelf
products.

The HazardWatch Integrated Fire &
Gas Detection System represents the next generation in highly intelligent
monitoring solutions designed to reduce hazard vulnerability and
meet the world’s most demanding safety standards. FM certified
as NFPA 72 compliant, the HazardWatch System is an innovative
modular system that is highly scalable and offers a rich feature
set designed for superior performance and reliability, helping
customers protect people, equipment and facilities from the dangers
of combustible gas, toxic gas and flame incidents.

specifications. SIL-Rated PLC-Based Systems
For mid-size to larger applications, the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
has evolved as a highly intelligent controller. PLCs reliably detect alarms and
initiate an orderly system control or shutdown in emergencies.
Their advantages include:
Microprocessor
intelligence
Communications
and networking (e.g., MODBUS)
Hardware
and software self-diagnostics
Lower
cost than controllers for larger systems
Addressable Systems
GMS designs addressable fire detection systems
consisting of a control panel
connected to remote field devices.
Addressable fire and gas detection
systems offer several benefits:
Greater
system design flexibility
Reduced
wiring and lower installation costs
Greater
monitoring and information
retrieval
capabilities
Controller-Based Systems
In
small to medium applications, controller-based
systems are a reliable and cost-effective
approach to fire and gas detection. Detectors
are wired directly to individual
sensors. Each controller has dedicated
alarm and fault indicators, and
controller-based systems can be
equipped with higher level communication
interfaces like Modbus. All indicators
and alarms are displayed on a front
panel that requires no operator
intervention other than pressing
the Acknowledge or Reset buttons.
Sample Draw Systems
Inaccessible areas like tanks, towers
and vaults make it difficult for maintenance staff to perform routine
sensor calibration and maintenance. GMS
designs sample draw systems that allow plant staff to perform such
activities from a safe location.
Suppression
Systems
For critical applications, GMS designs and supplies fire suppression systems
and the systems that control and activate them.

In today's world of complex processes, General Monitors integrates
