resources from the dangers of hazardous flames, gases, and vapors.
Today, we continue to focus on solving customer problems by offering
a diverse portfolio of industry leading safety solutions. We are continuously
looking for opportunities to improve functional safety and have an
internal initiative focused on developing solutions that are suitable
for use in environments with a specific Safety Integrity Level (SIL)
designation. This initiative is an extension of the long-standing
commitment that General Monitors has with its customers to provide
solutions with the highest levels of safety and performance.
Our approach to ensuring a high level of functional safety is based
on the globally recognized IEC 61508 standard and encompasses a comprehensive
set of activities conducted both in-house and with leading safety
experts from around the world. Taken together, these activities provide
an integrated system for designing products, assessing functional
safety, improving robustness, and validating performance. An extensive
Failure Mode Effects and Diagnostics Analysis (FMEDA) is conducted
early in the development of each new product and is used throughout
the development cycle to improve functional safety.
At General Monitors, the FMEDA is a critical design tool that is used
to develop the highest level of safety products; it is not simply
a post-design "paper study" that is conducted to obtain
a so-called "target SIL rating."
Finally, we at General Monitors feel that it is imperative that we
continuously validate our work and improve our processes. As such,
we have partnered with globally recognized functional safety experts
who have a wealth of experience, are involved with the safety standards
committees, and are Certified Functional Safety Experts (CFSE). This
allows us to provide our customers with comprehensive safety solutions
that have the backing of our 40 years of experience, along with the
independent validation of our leading functional safety partners.
